BMW 320i Racing Model Kit

The BMW 320i Racing returns as an updated re-issue of Tamiya's original 1977 release, now finished with high-quality Cartograf decals, metal transfers and a refreshed instruction manual.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

BMW entered the 1976 World Championship for Makes with the 3.0 CSL, but Porsche claimed both the over-3,000cc and 2,000-3,000cc division titles that year. Rather than step back, BMW returned in 1977 with the 320i Racing, built from the 1975-model 320i two-door sedan and fitted with a 298hp, 2.0-litre, 16-valve inline-four. Its aerodynamics are said to have been developed and refined at the Pininfarina facility in Italy, with a pronounced chin spoiler and rear wing added to the body. The 320i Racing made its competition debut at the opening round of the 1977 season, the 24 Hours of Daytona, kicking off an ongoing rivalry with the Porsche 935 in the 2-litre class.
